How to go an entire day exchanging no more than just a few words (or less) with any other human being:

Step 1 - Be me
Step 2 - Nope, no need for a step 2, you're done...
Step 3 - I said you're done...that's it...lesson over.
Step 4 - ok, stop it! no more steps! please...
Step 5 - what is your deal!?? we're done! fin! finito!
Step 6 - this has got to stop...just go aw-
Step 7 - alright, that's it! i'm ignoring you now...
Step 8 -
Step 9 -
Step 10 - *sigh* Fine! you want more steps?? I'll giv-
Step 11 - yer killin' me...
Step 12 - ok, another step. Periodically eat an onion throughout the day.
Step 13 - Always wear a shirt with, "You are ugly, go away" printed on the front AND back.
Step 14 - If anyone does try to speak to you, begin every answer with "F*ck off!"
Step 15 - there, are you satisfied now...?

good...

Step 16 - damnit!!!

well, at least it got cold for one day of Christmas week. it was down around 30 degrees last night, and i think the high is only in the 50s. but it's going to warm back up soon and by Christmas day it's supposed to be in the 70s and maybe a little rainy.

not exactly gonna put me in a Christmas mood...

i'm at work today (monday) but after today i'm off until january 5th. so yeah, that's a happy thought. :)

so sunday night i went on the downtown tallahassee historic ghost tour...it was, for lack of a better word, LAME...
but, fun none the less because i was amongst friends.

i tried videotaping it, but most of it was too dark...
but what footage i was able to use, i made into a little movie. please to enjoy!

a new song from my friends, the Sarah Mac Band...
though it's just two of them performing here.

they wrote it earlier in the week and performed it for the first time friday night.

Lyrics:
Im not scared of anything except dying and being lonely
I dont see what the big deal is
Why do we make mountains out of everything

Some people I know just think Im crazy
(its just you might be a little bit out of your head)
Everywhere I go they are trying to save me.
(its better them trying to save you than leave you for dead)
Ive got to admit the worlds a bit out of control
(its spiraling down to hell but youll be sure to be safe if you just stay right here.)
But I really don't worry cause I'll just sit in my room here singing

Im not scared of anything except dying and being lonely
Im not scared of anything except dying and being lonely
Im not scared of anything except traffic jams and undercooked meat
Im not scared of anything except real conversation and sand in my sheets
Im not scared of anything except cancer and getting bad grades
Im not scared of anything except morning breath and hand grenades
Im not scared of anything except bank bailouts and deficit spending
Im not scared of anything except Sarah Palin and John McCain

Im not scared of anything except dying and being lonely
Im not scared of anything except dying and being lonely
Im not scared of anything except dying and being alone.

so my parents are going to try to sell my old honda. they asked me to make a list of all the stuff that's wrong with it, just so they'll know...
it's getting to be a lengthy list:

- Back right window doesn’t work at all
- Back left window makes a screeching noise when rolled up and down, and sometimes it has trouble going up at all
- Slowly leaks oil and transmission fluid
- Right front speaker doesn’t work
- Right rear speaker makes annoying vibrating noise, so I turn it almost all the way down
- Windshield wipers aren’t very effective
- Windshield washer sprayers don’t work
- Plastic guard stuff torn off bottom of the front of the car
- Center brake light in rear windshield doesn’t work (which results in a warning light being constantly lit on the dash)
- Fabric in driver’s seat feels kind of like sandpaper
- Radio isn’t connected to the antenna (which doesn’t go up or down), so only the stronger stations come in well
- Bad shocks, especially the front driver’s side
- History of transmission problems, some of which still exist
- Sunroof has leaked on a couple of occasions
- There’s some very fast moving ants that call it their home
- Upholstery removed from the doors after peeling away on its own
- Driver’s door handle dangling and tricky to use
- Sections where large amount of paint is missing
- It's 18 years old

that's poor as in not much money left. having bought a new car, i figured the next logical thing to do would be to buy a new tv. fortunately my friend's parents had an almost unused one to sell me. i got a good deal on it and finally got to go pick it up saturday.

i think this is the same tv

it wasn't easy transporting it though. apparently you're supposed to keep plasma tvs as vertical as possible. at least that's what my friend said. so, getting it into my backseat was a challenge.

a bigger challenge was moving my old, unfathomably heavy, tv. the two of us about killed ourselves moving it to my bedroom.

but it was all worth it because it's a really nice tv. i invited 4 friends over to watch season 1 of Pushing Daisies on sunday, but only 2 of them were able to come. that show looks great in HD.

tomorrow i get to spend a bunch more money on a trip to the dentist. apparently some of my old silver fillings have expanded over time and are threatening to crack my teeth completely apart. so the old fillings are going away and updated ones will take their place...
yay pain!

i woke friday morning know which car i wanted to buy. oh, for those who didn't know, i've been car shopping.
once at work, i tried calling the dealership to ask what all I'd need to do if I planned on making a purchase that day. the lady who was showing me cars two days before was off that day, and the guy my dad knows there wasn't answering his phone. so my dad called and actually got through to him and was told that i could just go to the credit union, get a check for the amount he quoted me when we were looking at the car on wednesday, and then come by to fill out all the paperwork.

so, i decided to take the afternoon off work so i could take care of all this stuff. i went home for lunch only to find my power off. this was odd because my power is never off, even in storms, and it was a beautiful day.
after a while, i figured out that i had missed paying my utilities bill (it was buried under some other mail) and my services had been disconnected. so, i called them up and paid it over the phone, then asked about when it would be reconnected. the guy said *hopefully* between 2:00 and 4:00. he made it sound like they stopped reconnecting at 4:00, but i'm still not sure about that.

i left my house, fearing for all the poor food in my refrigerator, and headed to the credit union. the lady there told me, in a not very nice tone, that the worksheet i had with the car price on it wasn't enough. i needed to go get a "buyer's order" or something like that. so i headed out to the dealership to get that. they filled it out and was back out the door to go back to the credit union. my old car gave me one last reminder as to why i'm replacing it by refusing to start for a couple minutes. finally it did, but the oil light was flashing the whole return trip. which is odd, because i know it has oil in it.

got back to the credit union and a much nicer lady did all the paperwork for my loan. she finished it just as they closed. in fact, the door was locked behind me as i left.

i drove all the way back over to my parents' house so my dad could give me a ride to the dealership, and then proceeded to buy my new car!

it's a 2008 honda civic, atomic blue, leather interior, sunroof, heated seats...yeah, it's nice. :)

it's quite the stress relief to not have to worry about your car braking down or falling apart all the time.

i drove home to find that my power was, in fact, back on! phew!

last night i got to give 3 friends a ride in it to a concert here on campus. The Mates of State is the band we went to see. usually at this place there's a decent amount of people, but last night it was crazy. when we got there, the line to get in stretched waaaaay back further than i'd ever seen it. right as we finally got up to the door, the guy closed it and said for us all to wait.
he came out later and said they're waiting on the police officer who works there to come and tell them how many more people they can let in. finally he showed up and they started letting more people in.
we didn't get to be up near the stage, but it was still a good show. crazy hot though...too many people in a small space...

now...back at work...though, an hour late this morning because i overslept. apparently when the power was out on friday, my clock was able to keep the correct time, but the alarm setting was lost, so i didn't wake up until when i usually would be about to leave.

looks like Tallahassee is going to dodge another hurricane...Gustav this time...
it's probably going to move more to the west...towards louisiana unfortunately...

but yeah, we don't need any more flooding around here. kind of sick of the roads collapsing...

aaaaand my car is back at the mechanic this morning. drove it over there this morning and then waiting around about 20 minutes for my mom to show up and give me a ride to work.

at least they're, apparently, not charging me anything to re-fix it.

it's not raining anymore...though, there's some dark clouds around and there's probably scattered rain here and there.

but hey, in a week or so, the next hurricane, gustov, could be affecting us...so we've got that to look forward to.
